Pedestrian Hit and Killed on Kentucky Oaks Day

By Tiger on

Kentucky Oaks Day takes place at Churchill Downs and is one of the highest attended horse races in the USA. It takes place the day before the Kentucky Derby. Along with this wonderful time of year comes increased amounts of traffic, and unfortunately that means more accidents.

Today, May 4, 2018, a 60yr old man on a sidewalk was hit and killed. A Miller Transportation bus hit the pedestrian, however it was allegedly after a bizarre chain reaction crash which sent the bus on a trajectory towards the sidewalk.

Multi-vehicle accidents

After any accident involving 3 or more vehicles, there are likely to be multiple injuries, multiple responsible parties and multiple insurance companies involved. Unfortunately, after any collision involving this many vehicles, there is likely to be many insurers unwilling to accept responsibility or attempting to shift fault and pointing the finger at others.

Multiple vehicle wrecks are often caused by at least one negligent party who was distracted, tailgating, impatient or driving recklessly.

Wrongful death claims

When someone dies due to another party’s negligence, loved ones should know that they can seek some closure and/or justice via a wrongful death claim. Pursuing legal action after the devastating loss of a loved one is indeed difficult, however loved ones should be aware that wrongful death claims are complex, time-sensitive matters.
