Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC | Motorcycle Hit-And-Run Accidents in Laurel County KY - Image Name

Kentucky is a paradise for motorcyclists. Riders come from inside and outside the state to tour the beautiful backroads during the week and especially on the weekends. Residents can also just hop on a bike to make the drive to work or to the store more enjoyable.

No matter the reason for the trip, riders are always at high risk from distracted and reckless motorists who can drive as if a motorcyclist doesn’t even exist. Sadly, the accidents that result could often have been prevented with a few more seconds of observation and care shown by the driver.

The traffic accident numbers each year for the Bluegrass State never fail to illustrate just how much danger riders must face each time they take to the lanes. In a single year, Kentucky can have 87,000 or more registered motorcycles traveling state roads. In a sad and telling statistic, in 2018 motorcycles were a part of less than 1% of all vehicle collisions on Kentucky roads, and yet were involved in 7% of all the fatal accidents over the year.

Securing Help for Families After A Laurel County Motorcycle Accident

Families can receive the heartbreaking news that loved ones have been killed while doing something they loved. Tragic motorcycle accidents only bring more pain when the drivers responsible speed away and don’t accept the consequences of their actions.

Families can face the prospect of having to pay the enormous costs of emergency services stemming from the accident. They can also get targeted by the expense of a proper funeral service and burial. All of these consequences can fall to a family who might also be dealing with the sudden loss of guidance and financial support the victim had always provided.

Once a hit-and-run suspect is arrested a family’s wrongful death claim against the driver’s insurance provider can move forward. A family can seek support for their civil damages even if a suspect’s criminal court proceedings are just getting underway. They are separate cases.
