Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC | Motorcycle Accidents Resulting in Broken Bones in Lexington KY - Image Name

With its natural beauty and mountain air, Kentucky is a very popular state for motorcycling. Over 87,000 motorcycles are registered in the state at any given time.

Our state is a great place for some sightseeing on a bike or just a ride to work or the store and back. Sadly, Kentucky drivers don’t always show the caution they should when motorcyclists could be traveling nearby.

According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), motorcycles in the state make up less than one percent of all vehicles involved in collisions over a year. Tragically, even though there are fewer motorcycles on the road, they are involved in around 7% of fatal collisions documented over a year in Kentucky.

A motorcycle crash involving an SUV in southern Lexington sent one rider to the hospital Thursday night. LEX18-TV reports the accident happened on Tates Creek Road near New Circle Road on May 6, 2020.

The Lexington Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in to determine the cause of the crash.

Finding Support for Motorcycle Accident Victims in Lexington

Victims of motorcycle accidents can wake up in the hospital with a long and difficult recovery ahead. Motorcyclists travel in the open air and any mistake by a careless driver can leave a rider to deal with extremely serious injuries.

Injuries like head wounds, spinal fractures, and other broken bones can require months of treatment and physical therapy. Broken bones can set wrong and require additional surgeries to correct their positions. These are all potential outcomes that should be factored into any claim for damages filed against the at-fault driver’s insurance provider.

Insurance providers may try to get away with offering compensation that only covers the first night in an emergency room. Your medical expenses may go much further. That’s not to mention the lost time at work some victims have to absorb while they miss paychecks and fail to meet normal monthly bills. A local motorcycle accident attorney will be your first line of defense against the bad faith tactics insurance agents can use on injured victims and especially motorcycle riders.
