Motorcyclists who travel Louisville in the evening know that drivers can act with  careless disregard. That’s especially true of motorists getting ready for a left turn. They can anxiously await oncoming cars and SUVs to pass by, only to miss the smaller profile of a rider also coming straight at them.

A driver can hit the gas without taking a second look and end up right in the path of an unsuspecting rider. The person on the motorcyclist will be left little room or time to swerve out of the way of the broadside of a car making a turn. Defenseless riders can suffer severe injuries and be left with the recovery costs of an accident they were to blame for.

Motorcyclist Badly Injured After Getting Hit by Car in Louisville

A motorcyclist was left with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car Friday evening in southwest Louisville. WAVE-TV reported the accident took place on Cane Run Road at the intersection of Crums Lane on October 21, 2022.

The Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the scene around 6 p.m. They determined that a car was traveling southbound on Cane Run Road when it attempted a left turn in front of an oncoming motorcycle going northbound on Cane Run Road. The car struck the motorcycle.

The rider suffered severe injuries and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. The motorcyclist was in critical condition at last word. LMPD’s Traffic Unit continues to investigate how the accident occurred.

Support for Louisville Motorcycle Accident Victims and their Families

Serious motorcycle accident victims and their families can face enormous recovery costs after a scary impact. Hospital bills can add up while lost paychecks at work subtract from a rider’s savings. But if a careless driver is to blame for a motorcycle collision, those bills shouldn’t be the victim’s to worry over.

Victims and their close family members may file an accident claim that asks the at-fault driver’s car insurance provider for compensation. This financial support can be used to pay medical costs now and those in the future. Lost income and benefits can be compensated. Victims can receive additional support for the physical pain and emotional trauma they endure. This can include the loss of enjoyment of life while they can’t return to the rides they love.

Sadly, victims must monitor every move an insurance company makes in the wake of a motorcycle collision. Insurance adjusters often try to blame motorcyclists for their own accidents no matter what a collision report states. This is an unfair practice used to avoid providing victims and their families the support they need.
