The morning rush hour can see extreme traffic levels and people around Lexington have to take extra caution when driving alongside so many careless and distracted drivers. An inattentive driver can be eating breakfast, using a cell phone, or even combing hair from behind the wheel.

These irresponsible acts can cause a distracted driver to stray from their lanes, or miss braking traffic in front of them and cause a dangerous accident. Other drivers can suffer serious injuries in a collision they didn’t cause.

The Kentucky State Police see the devastating effects of these accidents locally. In 2018, they worked almost 3,000 accidents with injuries across Fayette County. A tragic 32 people also lost their lives in traffic collisions in the county in 2018.

Help with Hospital Bills for Accident Victims in Lexington

A driver can take a single glance at a phone or a radio and suddenly find they’ve caused a collision. During high traffic times, one collision can cause a chain reaction that results in more accidents and more injuries.

Victims in multiple-vehicle accidents should be allowed time to heal and recover, but the sad fact is hospital bills can combine with missed time at work to quickly leave the injured person in a financial crisis. All this worry and added stress will be over an accident the victim didn’t cause.

In Kentucky, victims injured in accidents are allowed up to a year to file a civil lawsuit against at-fault drivers and their insurance companies. This claim for damages can recover money to help the victim pay medical costs and reimburse lost wages at work. Other emotional and physical hardships can also be compensated.

In accidents where multiple vehicles are involved, more than one driver may be assigned blame for the collision. This could mean a victim can file a claim against several parties to get help in recovery. A local attorney can assist victims and carefully go over all of their options.
