Motorcyclists must be wary of other drivers at any time of day, but a ride at night can be especially hazardous. Distracted drivers miss spotting motorcycles at an alarming rate and this inattention leads to accidents every day.

For some reason, careless drivers seem to have the same trouble in low light conditions even with a motorcycle that has headlights and full running lights. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) finds that even though there’s less traffic on the roads at night, 43% of all motorcycle deaths happen at dusk, overnight, and dawn.

A motorist can misjudge the distance of a motorcycle’s headlight and make a mistake. They can sometimes be drowsy or distracted by a text or email on their phones.  Suddenly, they are an unavoidable obstacle in front of a motorcyclist, forcing the rider into a dangerous collision.

Lexington Motorcycle Accident With Life-Threatening Injuries

A motorcyclist was badly injured after a collision with a car Wednesday morning in Lexington. WKYT-TV reported the accident happened around 7 a.m. on Kearny Ridge Boulevard on September 9th, 2020.

Lexington police determined that the car and motorcycle collided while going in opposite directions. The man driving the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries.

Accident reconstruction crews were on scene to help determine the cause of the crash.

Help for Victims In Lexington Motorcycle Crashes

Motorcyclists, unfortunately, have to get used to seeing other drivers act as if they were invisible.  Careless drivers can fail to take a proper look at their mirrors or even the lanes in front of them.  They make their move thinking no one is nearby.  A motorcyclist can be given a split second to spot another driver’s error and try to avoid a crash.

Motorcyclists ride in the open air and have little protection in a collision.  Victims often endure powerful blunt force trauma when they are forced into an accident.  They can be thrown from their bikes and in some cases absorb an impact with the other vehicle involved and the roadway.

If you or a family member were injured in a motorcycle accident, you’ll need to be sure that you don’t face expensive ambulance and hospital bills alone.  A claim for damages against the at-fault driver may be the only way to get compensation for your recovery expenses and missed time from work after a tragic crash. A claim would target the driver’s insurance policy with a civil lawsuit to get help with physical, emotional, and financial losses.
